The OFS Parent Association invites all parents to join us on East of Singapore tour. This tour will take us to Changi, a charming area in the eastern tip of Singapore. Changi has so much to offer, be it flora and fauna, military history, religion, leisure, or food.

Itinerary (excluding traveling time):

Changi Point Coastal Boardwalk (40 mins)
Tucked away in the western end is a little-known boardwalk that offers a beautiful view of the coastline, where the terrain, flora, and fauna blend into the boardwalk’s design. Our walk will cover the scenic sections of the boardwalk with charming names like Cliff Walk, Kelong Walk, and Sunset Walk.

Military and Wartime History (30 mins)
Changi Point was the centre of activities since colonial times when it served as a military barrack and later, as the base of the Royal Air Force. During World War II, approximately 50,000 prisoners-of-war, as well as 3,500 civilians were interned in the main Changi Prison and at Selarang Barracks. Hear our guide Diana recount stories about the prisoner-of-war camps and how the resilient internees turned to ingenuity and improvisation to meet their needs in the face of adversity. Drive past Johore Battery where the monster guns for the defense of Singapore were installed.

Changi Village and Ferry Point (40 mins)
The Changi Village area has been and still is the centre of entertainment and recreational facilities. The food centre and the village neighbourhood cafes are known for some of the best local dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Ayam Penyet, tea time sweets, and creamy Cendol. Also, check out some of the old world shops that seemed to have resisted the advancement of time. We will have a short refreshment and toilet stop here during the tour (refreshments at your expense).

Loyang Tua Pek Kong Vinayagar Temple (30 mins)
This is a unique place of worship housing Buddhist, Hindu, and Taoist deities and a Muslim Kramat (shrine) within its premises. Truly, there is no better place to witness the religious and cultural harmony of Singapore.

Tampines Town and Our Tampines Hub (30 mins)
Tampines Town is a vibrant residential area in Singapore known for its modern amenities, green spaces, and strong sense of community. At its heart lies Our Tampines Hub, a mammoth integrated lifestyle complex, the first of such hubs, offering sports, cultural events, dining, and community spaces, creating a hub for diverse activities and connections, an encompassing destination that embodies the spirit of sustainability, community, and leisure.

The tour will start and end at Overseas Family School. Please note that this trip is for parents only, and we cannot accommodate children. The tour has limited capacity with only 46 seats available, allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you have been on this tour before, kindly give other parents a chance to sign up.

The sign-up page will open at 10:00 am on Friday, 13 September 2024. Please sign up using the form below.
